Description

SpaceCamper – We live it:
In a campervan, in a family car, in a mobile office, on a bike

They were the first to cut open the pop-up roof at the front – the birth of the panoramic roof, which is now standard on many vans. They dropped a tent from the tailgate or were the first to install a swing-out kitchen at the second sliding door. For 19 years, the SpaceCampers have been leading the way in the camping industry with their ideas and are now one of the largest external VW builders in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The Darmstadt-based company has already received numerous awards - most recently, the readers of AUTO BILD voted the ClassicOpen to 1st place as "Golden Motorhome 2023" in the campervan category. But resting on the tried and tested is not the company's philosophy.

Behind the idea of SpaceCamper are two engineers who together have several decades of vanlife experience: Markus Riese, co-founder of the bicycle manufacturer Riese und Müller, and Ben Wawra. Today, 50 employees at RW-Fahrzeugbau GmbH produce far more than 100 SpaceCampers a year. Among them are cyclists and water sports enthusiasts, motorcycle enthusiasts, skiers, snowboarders and other sports enthusiasts. Many creative minds who live with the SpaceCamper – on vacation, in everyday life. Some spend more nights in the van than in their apartment, and some don't have an apartment at all. Your SpaceCamper is your home. Since 2023, it has also included its own SpaceCamper forest. Here, the latest developments are put to the test directly in nature, people camp together, grow their own honey, ...

"A car without a bed is possible, but not desirable."

Since the first SpaceCamper Classic in 2006, the brand has stood for the fastest bed conversion, a robust extension, the largest boot in its class, plenty of charging space even with the rear seat installed, a back-friendly bed and much more. A SpaceCamper can always be transformed into the vehicle you need at the moment: a transporter, camper, family bus or mobile office.

And this idea keeps up with the times, it doesn't hide from change, it grows and takes on new forms. Company founder Ben Wawra has been living completely in his SpaceCamper for many years and is also looking forward to the new paths that are being taken: "The VW bus won't be around for much longer. Personally, I think that's a shame. But life goes on and we are busy developing."

SpaceCamper Bike: Sleep, work and cook on two wheels

And anyone who thinks that this is a complete offer from SpaceCamper after all has not reckoned with the creativity of the company founders. Because in 2024 comes the total novelty that the camping market has not yet seen: the SpaceCamper bike. "Where the car has to stop, you can really immerse yourself in nature with the SpaceCamper bike," enthuses Ben Wawra, who was finally able to make his dream come true after many years of development work. "The big surprise, however, is the quality of life that you also gain in everyday life through the breaks in nature. Working, sleeping, eating: In our team, we have tried all this on the SpaceCamper bike and don't want to miss it anymore."

SpaceCamper Modular: The proven SpaceCamper quality in your own vehicle

In 2023, the SpaceCamper family then got a big addition. For the new Multivan (T7), the Darmstadt-based inventors developed their own modular system. For the first time, customers can now bring the proven SpaceCamper quality into their own existing vehicle. In doing so, they individually select from modules what they really need for their Multivan. From 2024, the modular system will also be available for the T5, T6 or T6.1.This means that the ideas from almost two decades of SpaceCamper history are open to an even larger audience.

SpaceCamper Shop

On the aftermarket, the SpaceCamper Shop already offers such a comprehensive range for all VW buses and other vans. Accessories developed by campers for campers – and not just suitable for a SpaceCamper. With SpaceCamper Rental, there is also a versatile rental fleet ready for the next holiday or as an endurance test before a purchase.

A family lives the van life

"We live it": The SpaceCampers think their motto in more and more areas and the desire for new things is far from satisfied. "We live it" also describes the customers. More than 2,000 SpaceCampers are now on the road all over the world and many meet again and again – in Darmstadt, on tours or events. With a lot of camping experience and a lively exchange in the SpaceCamper community, the customers are actively involved in developments. It will be interesting to see what new ideas come after almost 20 years of SpaceCamper.

SpaceCamper Bike

Working from home is a thing of the past, bus office is today, bike office is coming tomorrow.

SpaceCamper company founder Ben Wawra has been living completely in his VW bus for 13 years and loves this close connection between nature, everyday life and work. Recently, however, Ben has been leaving his bus behind more and more often and getting on his camping bike. He doesn't have to do without travelling, relaxing or concentrating on his work.Because the new SpaceCamper bike contains all the "genes" that have shaped the history of the famous SpaceCamper for around 20 years. The combination of experience, multifunction and practical features that are not only suitable for everyday use, but also enable the most beautiful journeys and time-outs.

The SpaceCamper Bike

In view of today's challenges (climate change, digitalization, urbanization, demographic change, etc.), sustainable mobility is elementary. With its CO2 balance, the bicycle is the clear winner. In many situations, however, it reaches its limits. What if we could dissolve these boundaries? What if work, family life and holidays were possible with just one e-bike? The SpaceCampers, known for their award-winning Volkswagen Bullis, are now presenting the multifunctional SpaceCamper bike on the Load cargo bike from Riese & Müller. It enables a future-oriented lifestyle: the bike as a place for laptop work in the countryside, for weekly shopping, to take your loved ones with you or as a full-fledged camper bike – with an integrated tent concept that has never been seen before, a super-flexible table and a comfortable bed. So compact, dynamic and full-suspension that even off-road adventures on single trails are fun, and with huge potential for many areas of life.
