Description
General
Our light four-wheeled vehicles from Aixam and our Charly wheelchair lift are environmentally friendly, easy to operate, and safe. Precisely because our vehicles are so beautifully designed, they are easily equated with passenger cars in the M1 class. Many features are the same or similar, but there are, of course, differences that are inherent in the vehicle. In Germany, light four-wheeled vehicles are not yet as well known as in other countries. This information is intended to help you correctly classify the product. The L6eBP (Aixam, Minauto, eAixam) and L6eBU (D-Truck, E-Truck) categories are European-tested and approved for road use via a certificate of conformity (European type approval). The Charly electric vehicle for seniors has a German type approval and is nationally approved via a TÜV model report.
Registration
Exemption Light four-wheeled vehicles from Aixam are registration-exempt. This eliminates registration costs, vehicle tax, MOT fees, emissions testing fees, and the requirement to display a sticker for environmental zones (https://aixam.de/info/zulassung-und-versicherung/). The Charly wheelchair lift is also exempt from registration and tax. It is also possible to voluntarily register vehicles that do not require registration.
Insurance
Our vehicles can be covered by liability, partial, and fully comprehensive insurance with an insurance license plate.
Driving License
For light four-wheeled vehicles, at least a Class AM driving license (simple two-wheeler license) is required, which can be obtained nationwide from the age of 15. (https://aixam.de/info/fuehrerschein/). Drivers of our Charly motorized wheelchair lift do not require a driving license, nor do they require a so-called test certificate for mopeds.
