An oversized backing plate provides greater mass and a larger surface area to conduct heat away from the friction material more efficiently.

Heat Removal 2: Convection

Protruding pyramid fins increase the surface area exposed to airflow, improving heat transfer from the backing plate to the atmosphere.

Heat Removal 3: Vortex Cooling

“V” fins accelerate cooling by generating local air vortexes, allowing heated contact air to be continuously replaced by cooler passing air.

Why Do We Need a New Valve?

The road cycling market is rapidly moving toward tubeless systems. Compared with traditional inner tubes, tubeless setups help reduce rolling resistance, improve riding efficiency, and allow riders to run lower tire pressure with less risk of pinch flats.

Lower tire pressure also provides a more comfortable ride, making tubeless systems increasingly popular among road cyclists.

Why Presta Valves Are Preferred

Road bikes traditionally use Presta valves instead of Schrader valves because of their slim profile and strong high-pressure sealing performance.

The smaller rim hole required for Presta valves also helps maintain rim strength. For this reason, many performance MTB wheels also use Presta valves.

The Need for High-Volume Airflow

Tubeless valves have different requirements from valves used with inner tubes.

For tubeless setup, the tire must be seated quickly and securely. This requires high-volume airflow. However, standard Presta valves are not designed for high-volume air delivery, so users often need to remove the valve core first to pre-seat the tire before final inflation.

Easier Sealant Injection

Tubeless tires require liquid sealant to help prevent flats. Since sealants are relatively thick, they can easily block traditional valve systems.

With standard Presta or Schrader valves, users often need to remove the valve core to inject or remove sealant, making regular maintenance less convenient.
