853 steel is Reynolds’ premium grade of ferrous steel. Renowned for producing light, stiff, yet supple frames, 853 is the frame builder’s choice when only the best will do.
Using an industry-standard alloy, Reynolds uniquely mandrel butt and heat-treat this alloy. The heat treatment means thinner walls can be used making significant weight savings on the frame.
921 is cold-worked to a tensile strength of over 1000 MPa, similar to that of heat-treated chrome-moly steels. This butting and/or swaging makes 921 probably the highest-strength cold–worked tube set in the bike industry.
We have partnered with Mahle to develop and launch a package of parts that allows for the complete integration of the Mahle X20 system into custom steel frames.
3-2.5Ti - Using manufacturing processes perfected on the steel 853 alloy, Reynolds mandrel-butt each 3-2.5 tube individually to tighter tolerances on the wall thickness compared to most of the titanium industry.
