Veloconnect – the digital industry standard for the bicycle industry
Veloconnect is the manufacturer-neutral communication standard for digital collaboration in the bicycle industry. The interface enables cross-system, efficient and automated data exchange between bicycle retailers, suppliers, service providers, platforms and ERP systems - regardless of the software solution used.
The standard was initiated by Verbund Service und Fahrrad (VSF e. V.) and has been strategically developed further by the newly founded DiBike Digitize Bike Business Group together with ZIV - Die Fahrradindustrie since 2025. DiBike pools the industry's digital expertise and pursues an open, collaborative development approach.
Veloconnect has established itself as a reliable industry standard since 2006 and is now actively used by almost all common merchandise management systems in the bicycle trade as well as by over 120 suppliers. The standard is also compatible with other established data formats such as Bidex BikeData and the DST data set, which enables a particularly broad database and high interoperability within the industry.

Veloconnect Next - the next generation for new requirements
The industry standard is currently undergoing further strategic and technical development under the name Veloconnect Next. The aim is to adapt the interface to the changing requirements of the bicycle industry and open it up to new applications, greater security and international usage scenarios.
Among other things, the focus is on
Future-proof authentication and identification: introduction of modern security standards for the unique identification of retailers and systems as well as central registration and access management
Extended retail use cases: support for additional business models such as dropshipping, click & collect and more precise mapping of store structures and delivery processes
Integration of industry-specific services: Expansion of the interface to connect leasing and insurance service providers, service and repair processes and warranty processing
Veloconnect Next is a robust, scalable and future-proof interface architecture that is being developed together with the industry - open, practical and internationally compatible.
Together for open standards
Veloconnect is being further developed together with the industry - openly, practically and independently. In addition to the supporting associations VSF and ZIV, numerous software houses, suppliers, trade organizations and other stakeholders are actively involved. These include Bike&Co, VeloSuisse, specialized software service providers, platform providers and international partners. This close cooperation ensures that Veloconnect addresses current practical requirements - without dominating the interests of individual market participants.
