To kick things off at the start of April, the new talk and moving-image series will be looking at the international trend topic e-cycling.

e-cycling is well established and here to stay. Increasing numbers of professional cyclists are clocking up thousands of kilometres within their own four walls – a development further fuelled by the pandemic. Cycling in virtual environments is becoming more and more a mass phenomenon with some 1.5 million riders meeting up on Zwift & Co to take part in virtual training or races. The premiere edition of EUROBIKE Insights will be analysing the home training trend. Eurobike host Bernd-Uwe Gutknecht will be talking to smart trainer expert Frank Jeniche, athletes on bike trainers Fiona Schröder and Thore Perske, the digital head coach of the German Cycling Federation Tim Böhme with GCA coordinator Christoph Kont and Head of Eurobike Stefan Reisinger and asking if e-cycling has the potential to become an international trend. The bike community is invited to take part and can submit questions to the podium by 29 March using the link below. These will be discussed during the show and the first episode of the EUROBIKE Insights will be streamed on 1 April via the EUROBIKE communication channels. “E-cycling is stimulating the bike industry in many different ways and will play a new and important role at EUROBIKE 2021,” says Stefan Reisinger. “With EUROBIKE Insights, we will be taking a regular look behind the scenes in the bicycle industry at the topics that drive it – both at present and in the future. As such, this exciting digital format will attract interest and attention both inside and beyond the community.”

I’m 21 years old, and only recently started competitive racing in the form of Zwift races in December 2019. I started as a cat B rider with a goal to gain experience and have fun training. Then I did the German Cycling Academy (like the Zwift Academy), and got an invite to the final, which took place in Berlin during the UCI Track World Championships at the end of February 2020.

Because of the Covid-19 pandemic all national races were cancelled. So, I decided on a new goal: Zwift Pro-AM races. No longer a B racer, I raced my first Pro-Am races in May with Team Fearless, placing 18th in my second ever Pro-AM. I became an avid Zwift racer, preferring sprint races and TTTs, and my strengths are time trials, attacking, and launching breakaways. If possible I’m doing IRL racing with my best finish in one of the rare races in 2020 at 2nd place in a time trial where I was just beaten by Mieke Kröger who was TTT world champion in 2015.

Now I’m a member of the American Zwift Pro Team “Saris + The Pro’s Closet” and the British international “Team Torelli” for road races.
