On Saturday and Sunday, cycle tour regions, cycle tour providers and associated service providers present themselves in a large outdoor tent. A varied lecture program consisting of travel reports, adventure lectures and discussion panels will inspire on the integrated stage.

In the BIKE TRAVEL AREA you will get all the information and above all inspiration for your next bike trip. From the river bike path in Germany to sporty road bike and mountain bike holidays in the Alps. Let yourself be inspired by the diverse possibilities of exploring regions and landscapes by bike. Get all the information you need to plan and be inspired by our participating regions.

The BIKE TRAVEL AREA will be the meeting point for all those interested in bike travel.

BIKE TRAVEL STAGE

The programme of stage events in the BIKE TRAVEL AREA takes spectators off on an inspiring journey around the world. Starting it all off is a cycle tour in Africa, from there the journey moves on to a live podcast and a glimpse into the photo albums, Scandinavia, Italy, the highest Alpine passes and then, finally, around the whole globe with Dennis Kailing. Rounding off the agenda are informative talks on planning for tours and training as well as ADFC certification for cycle tourism destinations.

My 3.5 years of cycling in Africa - Peyman Almar
I am Peyman from Lapland, the northern part of Finland. 
It all started from childhood. Since I gained the ability to think and decide for myself I always felt a voice deep inside of me telling that I am an animal and nature is my home. Being indoors between walls was something I never liked. 
 
Now it has been more than a decade I’ve been cycling in different parts of the world. For the last 5 years I’ve been a full-time cyclists. I spent 3,5 years cycling in west and east part of Africa. In my talk I will share my experience of cycling in Africa and different bikes & equipments I have used.

ICECOLD - Cycling in Winter in Scandinavia with a Fat Bike - Carsten Grüttner

Carsten Grüttner is a bicycle travel adventurer, a city guide in his adopted hometown of Cologne, and a lawyer. For more than 30 years he has regularly traveled the world with bicycle, tent and camera; mostly alone and on back roads. He reports on his cycling adventures (e.g. "ABENTEUER - Weltreise per Rad", "NORD-SKANDINAVIEN - Eiskalt", "MYANMAR - Unter Rebellen", "TIBET - Auf dem Dach der Welt") in live reports and cycling travel magazines.

Carsten Grüttner travels the rugged north of Finland and Norway in winter with fatbike and tent. Off the main routes, he takes us through snowstorms at icy -30°C on a more than 1,000 km long solo adventure trip, which, in addition to the physical and mental challenges of wild nature, also tells us about the beauty of the North in powerful images.

How to build a bikepacking route: Expedition Alay - Bellén Toscan & Tristan Bogard 

Bikepacking is best when done on a properly built route. But how do you build one? Tristan and Belén will take you through their steps to create their own: Expedition Alay in Kyrgyzstan. 
Ever since their first tour through Kyrgyzstan, Belén and Tristan have returned to this colorful, mountainous, and truly adventurous country, exploring several parts by bicycle each year. Ultimately, they decided to build their first bikepacking route in the country to bring attention to the southwest region of Alay.

Better World than Never - once around the globe by bike - Dennis Kailing 

Dennis Kailing, from Gelnhausen in Hesse, embarked on a great adventure after his studies: once around the world by bicycle. He documented his 2-year journey and produced a documentary film. 

Dennis Kailing cycled around the world in 761 days through 41 countries. He sat in the saddle for 43,600km and experienced a huge adventure. In his lecture, he gives deep insights into his journey and also talks about the making of his film Besser Welt als Nie (Better World than Never), which is now available in three languages worldwide on Netflix.

Courage, luck and strong nerves - Bikepacking with a toddler - Katrin Igelhaut 

For several years now, Katrin and Jakob Iglhaut have been experiencing bikepacking adventures together all over the world. Daughter Ronja has been on board since 2021. No reason to hang up their shared passion - even if it quickly becomes clear that the bikepacking tours for the three of them will be a somewhat different kind of "adventure"...

In May 2021, Susanne Brüsch will swing into the saddle in Andalusia, Spain, and "surf" the opening wave of the Corona Lockdowns 3500 kilometers from the Atlantic to the Rhine. Alone. How she plans the 46-day journey out into the blue, remains self-sufficient for as long as possible and what she experiences along the way, Susanne reports in this impressive foray through the scenic treasures and about her emotional stumbling blocks en route.  

Susanne Brüsch is one of the longest-standing players in the e-bike industry and a pioneer of e-bike travel. As a journalist and speaker, she has been instrumental in raising the profile of the pedelec and is the namesake of this category of bicycle. Under her own label "Pedelec Adventures" she has been promoting e-bike tourism for over 10 years.
